What is an imaginary play space?

Imaginary Play Spaces are affordable, easy-to-install designs that create inclusive play opportunities without the cost or complexity of traditional accessible equipment.

3 girls play on a brightly colour path. One girl is in a wheelchair. The path has a castle, a key, a chest, a shop and other play elements.

They can be used as:
• A long-term alternative to expensive playground upgrades
• An instant, temporary way to make your space more inclusive

They are our own idea, created from lived experience.

Imaginary Play Spaces support all children including disabled, neurotypical and neurodiverse children. They encourage shared play that brings kids together across different walks of life. They also give parents and children a way to play and engage together.

“Clay has been an absolute pleasure to work with on our clinic’s mural wall project…

… He not only refined the design based on our feedback but also ensured the final piece was inclusive and accessible for all children – something deeply important to our business.”

“I’m Clay, designer and founder of Crocodile Crocodile.

I started this to push for better inclusion in design, especially for kids like my daughter who uses a wheelchair.

I bring lived experience, creativity and a belief that more effort should be made in design to include those who are too often left out. My background spans education resource design, teaching in Japan, graphic design and community engagement.”

At Crocodile Crocodile, we believe inclusive design is for every business. We love working in partnership with organisations of all sizes to create playful, accessible solutions that reflect real community needs. Whether you’re a council, school, brand, or service provider, we’re here to collaborate and design with inclusion at the heart.

We think differently because we start with inclusion – not as an afterthought, but as the foundation. Our solutions are achievable, realistic, and designed to save you time and money. Instead of costly retrofitting, we help you design smarter from the start, avoiding problems down the track. Inclusion-first design is better for everyone.

Let’s design a magical place where everyone belongs.
